The Yukon is a massive region with hundreds of prospectors and small hard rock mining operations. Every season there is a substantial amount of new gold that is found. I see a fair amount and turn away most of it and only pick the best, most interesting gold specimens for the website. Crystalized gold from the region is extremely rare and I always get excited when I see it from the Yukon. This one is a fine example of the rare quality I can sometimes find.
