A rare piece considering the caliber of the gold crystals on this specimen. A brilliant and yellow gold crystal formation with dendritic qualities and backdropped by a mass of beautiful white quartz. This gold in quartz specimen is from the Eagles Nest Mine in Placer County, California. The mine closed several years ago and joined the long list of closed gold mines in California. Regulations and environmental concerns have shut down the majority of hard rock mines in California. Currently, the only operating gold mine is the Colorado Quartz Mine, Mariposa County, California. I spoke recently with this mine's owner and they are having quite a difficult time keeping the mine open.
Weight: 24.0 grams (370.4 grains)
Dimensions: 1-7/8" or 46mm
