A beautiful hoppered gold specimen from a mine in the Alta Floresta (Portuguese for High Forest) municipality of Mato Grosso, Brazil. A fantastic branching formation with heavy and dense hoppered gold. The color is fantastic and the gold is estimated at 97-98% pure. This is one from a handful I acquired from a family in Brazil. The government has shut down the entire mining area but a few gold specimens still find there way out - mostly by an underground "black" market. I've been told miners still go to the mine under the cover of darkness to try to find more gold from this location.
