Well formed natural gold crystal from Mt. Kare, Papua New Guinea. The color is a consistent bright yellow gold and it is entirely made up of sharp and faceted gold crystals. The Mt. Kare gold was a phenomenon that lasted six years from 1988 to 1994. Nobody knew there was gold there until a group of surveyors dug a toilet hole for their camp and discovered gold nuggets just below the surface. Word spread quickly and within months, the mountain was beaming with would be prospectors.
