A fantastic form and faceted gold crystals on this gold specimen from Mt. Kare, Papua New Guinea. It has a brilliant shiny gold color. The gold from Papua New Guinea, and especially from Mt. Kare is like no other in the world. The story of the Mt. Kare gold rush is fascinating as well. Nearly 10,00 locals flocked to the mountain in 1988 when gold was discovered. It was mass hysteria for the next six years and nearly a million ounces were recovered.
