A good friend of mine found this gold specimen at the Harvard mine in Northern California. He was given permission to mine the walls of the open pit mine using a canoe as the mine was closed and filling with water. For weeks he would use a metal detector and detect different levels of the mine as the water level kept rising. This specimen has a bright white quartz with strips of darker matrix and crusty outcroppings of yellow gold on three sides. A beautiful piece of natural gold in quartz.I estimate about 4-5 grams of gold contained in the specimen.
Weight: 31.0 grams (476.2 grains)
