A very well proportioned piece of white quartz with equally impressive crystalline gold formed at the top. This gold in quartz specimen from the Harvard Open Pit Mine in California. The mine is now closed and was flooded by the natural elements. This is a piece that a friend of mine was hired to detect along the walls of the mine in a canoe as the water level rose over many months. Gold in quartz specimens are a very rare form of gold, found generally in hard rock mines.
