A beautiful yellow gold that is clustered throughout the quartz matrix and exposed on both sides. For the size, it is a heavy specimen and looks to have a substantial amount of gold that is hidden under the quartz. A rare piece from a famous California Gold Mine. The Colorado Quartz Mine in Mariposa County is famous for producing some of the finest gold specimens in the entire world. After a long absents, the mine was reopened in 2017 by an Australian and American mining team with an ambitious goal to find new gold. The team is having some success and has found several rich pockets of gold and unearthed more world class specimens. This piece was found at the 28 foot level in December 2018.
