This is the largest gold nugget i have from the Rye Patch and quite a find for this very well known prospecting area in Nevada. If you're familiar with Nevada gold, you know that the majority of it is fine and microscopic gold and the nuggets are pretty much only found in one area near Winnemucca and the Eugene Mountains. The Rye Patch is a very well known location that drawn lots of prospectors over the last several decades.
As a gold dealer and someone who gets to see a lot of gold nuggets. It is rare to see a collection such as this one with large gold nuggets from so many unique locations in North America. The collection comes from a single prospector who is a retired police officer and for the last 30 years, he spent six weeks every summer prospecting for gold.
